Symptoms

• Cooktop will not respond to touch controls or buttons • Display shows E7 error code • Some or all burners are inoperable • Touch panel lights up but commands are not executed • Cooktop may shut down unexpectedly during use • Control knobs or touch sensors become unresponsive • Error code persists even after turning the cooktop off

Possible Causes

• Loose or disconnected wire harness between control board and touch panel assembly • Faulty touch control panel or sensor board • Defective main control board with failed communication circuits • Moisture or condensation on the touch control panel interfering with sensor function • Power supply voltage fluctuation on the 240V circuit (electric/induction models) or 120V control circuit (gas models) • Cracked or damaged glass cooktop on induction or smoothtop models affecting sensor readings • Poor electrical connection at the home circuit breaker or cooktop power cord connection • Software glitch or corrupted control board programming

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Turn off the circuit breaker dedicated to the cooktop for 60 seconds, then switch it back on to perform a hard reset • Check that the cooktop is properly plugged into its dedicated outlet and verify the outlet has power using another appliance • For electric and induction models, confirm the cooktop is connected to a 240V dedicated circuit; for gas models, verify the 120V control outlet is working • Inspect the cooktop surface for any cracks, chips, or damage on glass smoothtop or induction models • Wipe the entire touch control panel with a soft, dry cloth to remove any moisture, condensation, or debris • On gas cooktops, check that all burner caps and grates are seated properly and no burner components are loose • Verify the touch controls are not in a locked mode by checking the display panel for lock symbols • Ensure the cooktop area is dry and not exposed to excessive steam or water from cleaning • Check your home's main electrical panel to confirm the dedicated cooktop breaker has not tripped • Attempt to reset the cooktop by holding down the power button or designated reset button for 10 seconds if available on your model
