Symptoms

• Cooktop will not heat or ignite burners • Error code F2 displays on the control panel or digital screen • Touch controls become unresponsive or locked • Some burners work while others do not respond • Cooktop shuts down unexpectedly during cooking • Control panel may beep repeatedly or continuously

Possible Causes

• Faulty temperature sensor (RTD or thermistor) on the cooktop surface or burner element • Loose or corroded electrical connections between the sensor and control board • Damaged sensor wiring or connector due to age or moisture exposure • Control board failure or electronic component malfunction • Power supply issue affecting 240V (electric/induction models) or 120V (gas control) circuits • Moisture or condensation inside the control panel affecting sensor signal • Software glitch or control board firmware error requiring reset

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Turn off the cooktop and allow it to cool completely for at least 15 minutes • Check your home's circuit breaker panel to ensure the breaker serving the cooktop is in the ON position • For electric or induction models, verify the cooktop is properly plugged into a dedicated 240V outlet and the connection is secure • For gas cooktop models, verify the 120V control outlet connection is secure and functional by testing another appliance in that outlet • Inspect the cooktop surface for visible cracks, chips, or damage on the glass or ceramic surface that may affect sensor operation • Check that the touch control panel is completely dry; if wet, wipe with a soft, dry cloth and wait 30 minutes • Verify the touch control lock feature is not enabled (check your model's user manual for lock deactivation steps) • Perform a hard reset by switching off the dedicated circuit breaker or unplugging the cooktop for 60 seconds, then restore power • Wait 2-3 minutes after power restoration to allow the control board to fully initialize before attempting to use the cooktop • If the error clears after reset but returns during cooking, the sensor or control board may require professional service
