Symptoms

• Cooktop will not turn on or ignite burners • Touch controls are unresponsive or locked out • Error code F4 displays on the control panel • Burners fail to heat even after multiple attempts • Cooktop shuts down unexpectedly during cooking • Warning beeps sound when attempting to use burners • Display screen may show the error code flashing or continuously

Possible Causes

• Temperature sensor (RTD or thermistor) malfunction on the cooking surface • Faulty sensor connection or loose wiring harness behind the cooktop control panel • Burned-out or damaged temperature sensing element • Cracked or damaged glass cooktop surface on induction or smoothtop electric models affecting sensor calibration • Control board failure preventing proper sensor signal processing • 240V/60Hz power supply interruption or voltage fluctuation on electric and induction models • 120V/60Hz power issues affecting gas cooktop control module and sensor circuits • Moisture or mineral buildup interfering with sensor detection on the cooking surface

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Check your home circuit breaker panel and confirm the dedicated 240V breaker (for electric or induction cooktops) or 120V breaker (for gas cooktop controls) is in the ON position and has not tripped • Verify the cooktop is properly plugged into a dedicated outlet and not sharing a circuit with other high-wattage appliances • Inspect the cooktop glass or cooking surface for visible cracks, chips, or damage that may interfere with temperature sensing • Wipe the entire cooking surface with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly to remove any moisture, food debris, or mineral deposits • Check that all burner caps, grates, and components are seated correctly and not blocking any vents or sensor areas • Verify the touch control panel is not wet or damp; if wet, allow it to dry completely for at least 30 minutes • Confirm the cooktop is not in child lock or control lock mode by checking the control panel settings or manual • Perform a hard reset by switching off the circuit breaker serving the cooktop for 60 seconds, then switch it back ON to allow the system to reinitialize • Allow the cooktop to sit powered off for 5 minutes before attempting to use it again • If the error persists after these checks, discontinue use of the cooktop to prevent potential safety hazards
