Symptoms

• Cooktop will not turn on or ignite burners • Display shows F1 error code • Touch controls are unresponsive • Burners fail to heat or maintain temperature • Error code appears intermittently or constantly • Cooktop shuts off unexpectedly during cooking • Control panel may beep or sound an alarm

Possible Causes

• Temperature sensor (thermistor) failure or disconnection • Faulty control board or main PCB malfunction • Loose or corroded electrical connections between sensor and control board • Water or moisture damage to control module affecting 120V/240V circuits • Damaged wiring harness inside cooktop cavity • Control board firmware error or reset needed • Failed relay or switching component on main circuit board • Defective touch control panel sending false temperature readings

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Turn off power to the cooktop at the home circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turn back on to perform a hard reset • Check that the cooktop's dedicated circuit breaker is in the ON position (for 240V electric/induction models) or that the 120V outlet is functioning properly (for gas control modules) • Verify the cooktop is fully plugged into its dedicated outlet with no loose connections at the wall • Inspect the cooktop surface for cracks, chips, or damage on glass smoothtop or induction models that may indicate internal water intrusion • Ensure no moisture, spills, or condensation are present around the touch control panel or vents • Confirm all burner caps and grates are seated correctly and not blocking vents (gas models) • Check that the cooktop touch controls are not locked by holding the lock button for 3 seconds • Dry the control panel thoroughly if any moisture is visible and allow 24 hours for complete drying before retesting • Attempt to clear the error by pressing and holding the reset or cancel button on the control panel for 5 seconds
