Symptoms
• Cooktop will not turn on or respond to touch controls
• One or more burners fail to heat
• Display shows E4 error code and cooktop locks out
• Touch controls are unresponsive despite pressing buttons
• Cooktop powers down unexpectedly during use
• Some burners work while others do not
• Control panel lights up but burners do not ignite (gas models)
• Beeping sounds when attempting to use cooktop
Possible Causes
• Loose or corroded electrical connections between control board and heating elements
• Defective temperature sensor or cooktop control module
• Failed communication between touch panel and main circuit board
• Power supply issue with 240V (electric/induction) or 120V (gas control) circuit
• Cracked or damaged cooktop glass on smoothtop or induction models causing sensor misalignment
• Water or moisture on touch control panel causing false sensor readings
• Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker in home electrical panel
• Faulty burner element or heating relay on control board
• Improper installation or loose cooktop connection to dedicated outlet
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the home circuit breaker for the cooktop completely for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to perform a hard reset
• Check your home's electrical panel and verify the cooktop's dedicated circuit breaker has not tripped
• Ensure the cooktop is securely plugged into its dedicated 240V outlet (electric/induction models) or 120V outlet (gas control module) with no loose connections
• Inspect the cooktop surface for cracks, chips, or damage in the glass on smoothtop and induction models
• Wipe the touch control panel completely dry with a soft cloth to remove any moisture or water
• On gas models, verify all burner caps are seated properly and grates are positioned correctly
• Check that the cooktop is not in lock mode by pressing and holding the control lock button if your model has this feature
• Ensure no objects are blocking the cooktop surface or touch controls
• Wait 10 minutes after power reset and attempt to use one burner at a time
• If the error persists after these steps, avoid further use and contact a qualified service technician
