Symptoms

• Cooktop will not heat or ignite burners • Touch controls are unresponsive or intermittently responsive • One or more burner zones fail to activate • Error code E5 displays on the control panel or digital display • Cooktop may beep repeatedly or emit warning sounds • All burners or zones affected simultaneously • Cooktop powers on but no heating response to user input

Possible Causes

• Loose or corroded electrical connections at the 240V (electric/induction) or 120V (gas control) power supply • Faulty touch control panel or membrane switch failure • Defective temperature sensor or heating element circuit • Control board malfunction or internal electronics failure • Damaged cooktop glass on smoothtop or induction models affecting sensor operation • Poor ground connection or electrical fault in the cooktop circuit • 60Hz power supply interruption or voltage fluctuation • Wet or moisture-damaged touch controls on the cooktop surface

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Ensure the cooktop is powered off and allow it to cool completely before inspection • Check your home circuit breaker panel and verify the dedicated 240V circuit (electric/induction models) or 120V circuit (gas control models) is in the ON position and has not tripped • Inspect the cooktop's power cord and plug connection at the wall outlet for loose, bent, or corroded contacts • Examine the entire cooktop surface for visible cracks, chips, or damage in the glass on smoothtop or induction models • Check that all burner caps and grates are seated properly and not obstructing heating element access on gas models • Wipe the touch control panel and surrounding area with a dry cloth to remove any water, moisture, or condensation • Verify the touch controls are not in a locked mode by checking for a lock indicator light or attempting the unlock gesture per your user manual • Perform a hard reset by switching off the circuit breaker supplying power to the cooktop for 60 seconds, then switch it back ON • Allow the cooktop 2-3 minutes to reinitialize and check if the error code clears • If error persists after reset, avoid using the cooktop and consult a qualified technician for internal diagnostics
