Symptoms
• Fan does not turn on or spins inconsistently
• Fan runs at only one speed regardless of control setting
• Fan suddenly stops during operation
• E06 error message displays on the control panel or LED indicator blinks
• Reduced or no air extraction from cooktop
• Control buttons are unresponsive to speed adjustments
Possible Causes
• Loose electrical connection between the control board and motor on 120V circuit
• Motor capacitor failure preventing proper motor startup or speed control
• Damaged or worn motor brushes in the fan motor assembly
• Faulty control board unable to send proper signals to the motor
• Motor winding short circuit or open circuit
• Tripped internal motor thermal overload due to fan obstruction or motor burnout
• Poor power supply to the range hood from the dedicated 120V/60Hz outlet
• Wiring harness disconnection between control panel and motor unit
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the circuit breaker supplying power to the range hood for 60 seconds, then switch it back on to perform a hard reset
• Verify the range hood is plugged into a dedicated 120V outlet (for plug-in models) and check that the outlet is functioning with another appliance
• Check your home's circuit breaker panel to ensure the breaker serving the range hood has not tripped; reset if necessary
• Inspect the grease filter for excessive buildup and clean or replace it according to manufacturer guidelines, as heavy grease accumulation can block airflow and strain the motor
• Visually inspect the exhaust duct connection at the back of the range hood to ensure it is securely attached and not kinked or crushed
• Follow the exhaust duct outside to verify it is not blocked by lint, debris, or external obstructions that would force the motor to work harder
• Listen carefully with the range hood powered on to identify any unusual grinding, squealing, or rattling sounds that indicate motor damage
• Ensure the range hood is properly mounted and fully secured to the cabinet or wall, as loose mounting can affect internal connections
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
