Symptoms
• Range hood fan does not turn on when speed buttons are pressed
• Fan runs inconsistently or at only one speed setting
• Fan makes unusual grinding or squealing noises before error appears
• Display screen shows F01 error code
• Fan suddenly stops working mid-operation
• Range hood lights may work but fan remains inactive
• Error code persists after attempting to change fan speed
Possible Causes
• Loss of 120V power supply to the fan motor circuit or control board
• Faulty capacitor preventing fan motor from starting
• Fan motor bearing failure or internal motor damage
• Wiring connection loose or disconnected inside the range hood
• Control board malfunction or failure in the USA 60Hz circuit
• Fan blade obstruction from grease buildup or foreign debris
• Failed thermal overload protection on the motor
• Defective fan speed control relay on the circuit board
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home electrical panel to ensure the circuit breaker supplying the range hood has not tripped; reset the breaker if necessary
• Verify the range hood is plugged into a dedicated 120V outlet or hardwired correctly per installation instructions
• Turn off the range hood at the power source and wait 60 seconds, then turn power back on to perform a hard reset
• Remove and inspect both the aluminum grease filters and any additional charcoal filters for heavy grease buildup; clean or replace filters as needed
• Check the exhaust duct pathway outside your home to ensure no lint, debris, or ductwork kinks are blocking airflow
• Open the range hood access panels (if your model allows safe user access) and look for visible obstructions around the fan blades
• Visually inspect any exposed wiring connectors inside the hood for loose connections or corrosion
• Ensure nothing is resting against or blocking the fan motor area
• Try operating the range hood at different fan speed settings to see if the motor responds at any speed level
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
