Symptoms
• Range hood fan will not turn on or respond to speed controls
• Fan runs at only one speed regardless of button selection
• Fan starts then immediately stops or cycles on and off
• Display shows E02 error code on digital control panel
• Unusual grinding, buzzing, or motor noise when attempting to operate
• No air suction or reduced airflow from the hood
• Control buttons light up but fan does not engage
Possible Causes
• Motor relay or capacitor failure in the control board preventing 120V power delivery to the fan motor
• Burnt-out or defective fan motor unable to receive or respond to electrical signals
• Loose or corroded electrical connections between control board and motor assembly
• Faulty speed control board or PWM (pulse width modulation) circuit malfunction
• Blocked or jammed fan impeller preventing motor from spinning despite power
• Defective motor speed sensor or hall effect sensor providing incorrect feedback to control board
• Power supply issue on the dedicated 120V circuit branch causing voltage drop
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off power to the range hood at your home circuit breaker and wait 60 seconds, then restore power to perform a hard reset of the control board
• Verify the range hood is connected to a dedicated 120V household outlet and not sharing the circuit with other high-draw appliances
• Check your home's circuit breaker panel to confirm the breaker for the range hood is in the ON position and has not tripped
• Inspect the exhaust duct and ducting pathway for blockages, dents, kinks, or accumulated lint that could prevent fan operation
• Remove and visually inspect the grease filter and any pre-filters for heavy grease buildup, and clean or replace them according to manufacturer guidelines
• Listen carefully near the motor area for any unusual grinding or clicking sounds that might indicate internal motor damage
• Gently try to manually rotate the fan blade by hand (with power off) to ensure it is not mechanically seized or blocked by debris
• Verify all visible wire connectors between the control board and motor are firmly seated and show no signs of corrosion or burning
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
