Symptoms
• Range hood fan will not turn on or respond to speed controls
• Fan runs at only one speed setting and cannot be adjusted
• Fan starts then immediately stops or cycles on and off repeatedly
• LED display shows F02 error code
• No sound or vibration from the motor area
• Fan runs intermittently or hesitates during startup
• Power light may be on but fan does not operate
Possible Causes
• Loose or corroded electrical connections at the 120V power supply
• Faulty fan motor that has failed or burned out
• Defective speed control module or electronic control board
• Damaged motor capacitor preventing fan startup
• Wiring harness disconnected or damaged inside the hood
• Motor thermal overload switch triggered due to obstructed fan wheel
• Failed speed sensor or tachometer circuit
• Power supply delivering incorrect voltage to the motor circuit
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off power to the range hood by switching the dedicated circuit breaker to the OFF position
• Verify the home electrical panel breaker for the range hood is functioning and not tripped
• Wait 60 seconds, then switch the breaker back ON to perform a hard reset of the control board
• Inspect the grease filters for heavy buildup and clean or replace them according to the user manual
• Check that the exhaust duct is not blocked, kinked, or crushed from the hood to the exterior vent
• Verify the range hood is properly plugged into a dedicated 120V outlet or hardwired according to installation specifications
• Ensure there are no visible obstructions around the fan wheel opening inside the hood cavity
• Listen carefully for any clicking or humming sounds when power is restored to identify if the motor is attempting to start
• Check that all visible cable connections inside the hood are fully seated and secure
• Allow the unit to sit unplugged for 5 minutes, then restore power to clear any control board errors
