Symptoms
• Range hood fan will not turn on or respond to speed controls
• Display shows E01 error code on the control panel
• Fan runs but shuts off unexpectedly during operation
• Clicking or buzzing sounds coming from the motor area
• Fan speed controls are unresponsive despite being pressed
• Range hood powers on but no ventilation occurs
• Error code persists even after multiple attempts to restart
Possible Causes
• Motor capacitor failure preventing proper fan startup
• Loose or corroded electrical connections between control board and motor
• Fan motor bearing seized or mechanical obstruction blocking fan blade rotation
• Control board experiencing a communication error with the motor module
• Grease and debris buildup inside motor housing restricting fan movement
• Defective motor winding causing electrical discontinuity
• Power supply voltage irregularities at the 120V outlet
• Wiring harness damage between control panel and motor assembly
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the circuit breaker dedicated to the range hood for 60 seconds, then switch it back on to perform a hard reset
• Unplug the range hood from the 120V outlet for one minute and plug it back in to clear any temporary faults
• Inspect the exhaust duct for blockages, kinks, or debris that could cause back pressure and trigger the motor fault
• Remove and clean or replace the grease filter to ensure proper airflow and reduce strain on the motor
• Check that the range hood is connected to a dedicated 120V/60Hz circuit breaker and not sharing power with other major appliances
• Verify all visible electrical connections at the outlet are secure and show no signs of corrosion or burn marks
• Look inside the fan housing (without disassembling) for visible obstructions, grease buildup, or debris blocking the fan blade
• Manually attempt to rotate the fan blade by hand (if safely accessible) to check for unusual resistance or grinding sounds
• Ensure the range hood is properly installed level and securely mounted, as misalignment can affect motor operation
• Try the range hood on a different 120V outlet in your kitchen to rule out a faulty outlet or circuit issue
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
