Safety Checks You Can Do

• Open the dishwasher door fully and visually inspect the latch mechanism on both the door and the frame for visible debris, cracks, or bent metal
• Gently clean the latch area with a damp cloth to remove any detergent buildup, mineral deposits, or food particles
• Manually close the door slowly and listen for a distinct clicking sound that indicates the latch is engaging
• Check that the door closes evenly and does not require excessive force; the door should shut smoothly without resistance
• Inspect the door hinges from the side to ensure the door is not sagging or misaligned
• Verify that the home circuit breaker supplying power to the dishwasher has not tripped; reset if necessary
• Open and close the door 10-15 times slowly to ensure the latch mechanism moves freely without sticking
• Check that no items inside the dishwasher are blocking the door from closing fully
• Ensure the detergent dispenser door is closed and not interfering with the main door latch
