Symptoms

• Machine displays E12 error code on the digital display screen • Coffee machine stops mid-brew cycle and halts operation • No water is dispensed during brewing or rinse cycles • Machine beeps repeatedly or displays error message continuously • Brew group may not move into the correct position • Machine refuses to start a new brew cycle until error is cleared

Possible Causes

• Water pump has lost pressure or is not functioning due to 120V/60Hz electrical supply interruption • Mineral scale buildup from hard water common in many USA regions has blocked water lines or sensors • Water tank is not properly seated in the machine or water level is too low • Brew unit connection point has lost electrical contact or is not inserted correctly • Internal water pressure sensor has malfunctioned or disconnected • Descaling cycle has not been performed recently, causing mineral blockage in USA tap water systems • Power supply to the machine has been interrupted or circuit breaker has tripped • Water valve solenoid has failed due to mineral deposits from hard tap water

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Unplug the coffee machine from the electrical outlet for 60 seconds, then plug it back in to perform a hard reset • Check that your home circuit breaker has not tripped; reset the breaker if needed and plug the machine back in • Remove the water tank completely, empty any remaining water, rinse it thoroughly, and refill with fresh cold water from your tap • Reinsert the water tank firmly into the machine, ensuring it clicks or seats completely into place • Open the machine's service door or access panel and visually inspect the brew unit to ensure it is fully inserted and seated properly • Run a full descaling cycle using a USA-compatible descaling solution designed for Bosch coffee machines to remove mineral buildup from hard water • Empty and rinse the drip tray and grounds container to ensure they are not overfilled or clogged • Check the bean hopper to confirm it contains beans and that beans are not jammed or compacted • Verify that all visible water connections inside the machine (where accessible without disassembly) appear connected and secure • Allow the machine to cool for 10 minutes, then attempt to restart the brew cycle
