Symptoms
• Machine fails to start or complete a brew cycle
• Error code E11 displays on the digital screen
• Water does not flow into the cup during brewing
• Machine beeps repeatedly or produces warning sounds
• Brew unit may not move to the correct position
• Coffee output is significantly reduced or absent
• Machine may shut down mid-cycle
Possible Causes
• Water tank is empty, incorrectly seated, or not fully pushed into the machine
• Water inlet valve is blocked or malfunctioning due to mineral buildup from hard water common in USA regions
• Internal water lines are clogged with mineral deposits or scale
• Water pressure from household supply is too low (below 20 PSI)
• Brew unit sensor is dirty or not functioning correctly
• Thermal block or heating element has mineral buildup restricting water flow
• Faulty water level sensor in the tank
• Electrical connection issue between water system components
• Defective pump or pressure sensor in the 120V/60Hz USA electrical system
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check that your home circuit breaker for the outlet is in the ON position and the outlet is functioning by plugging in another appliance
• Verify the water tank is completely filled with fresh, cold water and firmly seated in the machine until you hear a click
• Remove the water tank, rinse it thoroughly, and inspect the inlet tube connection for visible debris or mineral deposits
• Fill the water tank with fresh water and reinsert it, ensuring it is fully pressed into place
• Empty the drip tray and grounds container to check for overflow that may trigger water system errors
• Check that the brew unit is fully inserted and locked in position by gently pushing it in until it clicks
• Open the brew unit door and visually inspect the unit for any visible debris, old coffee grounds, or mineral buildup, and clean gently with a soft, damp cloth if needed
• Check the bean hopper to ensure it contains beans and that beans are not jammed or compacted
• Run a descaling cycle using a Bosch-approved descaling solution to remove mineral buildup from the internal water lines, which is especially important in areas with hard water common throughout much of the USA
• After descaling, run 2-3 cycles using only water with no coffee to flush the system completely
• Unplug the machine from the electrical outlet for 60 seconds, then plug it back in to perform a hard reset
• Attempt to brew a test cup and observe if the error clears
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
