Symptoms
• Dishwasher stops mid-cycle and displays E17 on the control panel
• No water fills the wash chamber during the initial fill phase
• Cycle halts or does not start despite proper door closure
• Faint humming sound from the inlet valve area without water flowing
• Display shows error after 30-60 seconds into the wash program
• Water does not reach adequate level in the tub for washing
Possible Causes
• Kinked, frozen, or blocked inlet hose between home water supply and dishwasher
• Clogged inlet valve screen due to sediment or mineral buildup from municipal water supply
• Faulty water inlet valve solenoid not opening properly
• Home water pressure below minimum requirement (less than 20 psi on US models)
• Closed or partially closed water supply shut-off valve under the sink
• Damaged inlet hose with pinched or compressed sections
• Malfunctioning flow sensor not detecting adequate water entry
• Defective inlet valve assembly requiring replacement
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Verify the water supply shut-off valve under the sink is fully open by turning the handle counterclockwise
• Check that both hot and cold water supply hoses connected to the dishwasher are not kinked or crushed
• Inspect inlet hoses for any visible damage, cracks, or bending that could restrict water flow
• Ensure home water pressure is adequate by running a separate faucet in your kitchen; water should flow strongly
• Check that your home circuit breaker for the dishwasher is in the ON position and has not tripped
• Look for any visible mineral deposits or sediment around the inlet hose connection point
• Run a test cycle using hot water only if your dishwasher has this option to determine if supply line selection matters
• Disconnect power to the dishwasher at the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power and attempt a new cycle
• Ensure the dishwasher door is closing completely and the door latch is engaging without gaps
• Test with a different wash cycle to see if error recurs or is cycle-specific
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
