Symptoms
• Washing machine stops mid-cycle and displays E06 on the control panel
• No water enters the drum during the wash or rinse cycles
• Cycle times are interrupted or the machine does not start a wash cycle
• Error code clears after power reset but returns when cycle is restarted
• Water may fill very slowly or inconsistently
• Audible clicking or buzzing sounds from the valve area during fill attempts
Possible Causes
• Kinked or pinched inlet hose restricting water flow
• Inlet valve partially or completely clogged with mineral deposits or sediment
• Defective water inlet valve solenoid unable to open properly
• Clogged inlet screen filters (one per hot and cold water inlet)
• Low household water pressure below the 20 psi minimum requirement
• Closed or partially closed water supply shutoff valves under the sink
• Failed electronic control board unable to signal the inlet valve to open
• Disconnected or loose water supply hose connections at the back of the machine
• Malfunctioning pressure sensor preventing proper fill detection
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Power off the washing machine completely and unplug it from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds, then plug back in and restart to attempt an error code reset
• Check both hot and cold water shutoff valves under your sink to ensure they are fully open (turn counterclockwise)
• Inspect the inlet hoses connected to the back of the washing machine for visible kinks, cracks, or pinches and straighten any bent areas
• Remove the inlet hoses from the back of the machine and inspect the inlet screens (small mesh filters) for debris or sediment buildup; rinse screens with clean water if clogged
• Disconnect the inlet hoses and run water into a bucket from each supply line to verify adequate household water pressure is present (should flow freely)
• Visually check all water supply hose connections at both the wall shutoff valves and the washing machine inlet ports to ensure they are hand-tight and not leaking
• Verify the home circuit breaker serving the washing machine has not tripped; reset if needed by switching the breaker fully off then back on
• Run a test fill cycle on the empty machine with no laundry to isolate whether the issue occurs consistently
• If error persists after these checks, contact an authorized Bosch service technician or local appliance repair professional for inlet valve replacement or electronic control board diagnosis
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
