Symptoms

• Freezer not maintaining proper temperature • Temperature display showing unusual readings or fluctuating values • Compressor cycling on and off irregularly • Ice buildup or frost accumulation inside the freezer cabinet • Alarm or beeping sounds from the freezer • Error code E11 displayed on the control panel • Freezer running continuously without cycling off • Food thawing or becoming softer than normal

Possible Causes

• Faulty temperature sensor (NTC thermistor) in the freezer compartment • Loose or disconnected wiring harness between sensor and control board • Corroded or damaged electrical connectors due to moisture • Control board failure or communication circuit malfunction • Refrigerant leak affecting system operation • Defective defrost timer or defrost control board • Power supply voltage fluctuation from home electrical system • Failed damper control solenoid preventing proper airflow • Condensation or ice blocking temperature sensor probe

Safety Checks You Can Do

• Verify the home circuit breaker supplying the freezer is in the ON position and has not tripped • Unplug the freezer from the wall outlet for 5 minutes, then plug it back in to reset the control board • Check that the freezer door seals properly and is not warped, allowing warm air infiltration • Inspect the condenser coils at the back or bottom of the freezer for dust or pet hair buildup and gently vacuum if accessible • Ensure the freezer interior is not overpacked with food items, which can block air vents and sensors • Verify the freezer is not installed in an environment below 50°F (10°C) or above 110°F (43°C), as this affects sensor accuracy • Check that the freezer is on level ground and not tilted, which can affect internal drainage and sensor positioning • Remove any ice or frost visibly blocking the temperature sensor probe inside the freezer cabinet • Confirm adequate space around the freezer for proper ventilation (minimum 2-3 inches on sides and back) • Test the outlet with another 120V appliance to verify the outlet is functioning properly
Safety First
