Symptoms
• Refrigerator compartment not cooling to the set temperature
• Freezer compartment not maintaining proper freezing temperature
• Error code E14 displayed on the digital control panel
• Compressor running continuously or not running at all
• Food spoiling faster than normal
• Ice maker not producing ice or producing less ice than usual
• Both fresh food and freezer sections affected equally
Possible Causes
• Faulty fresh food compartment temperature sensor (NTC thermistor)
• Faulty freezer compartment temperature sensor
• Loose or disconnected wiring harness between sensor and control board
• Corroded or damaged electrical connectors at the sensor connections
• Defective electronic control board unable to process temperature signals
• Power supply issues related to 120V/60Hz electrical delivery
• Control board software malfunction or failure
• Short circuit in the temperature sensor circuit
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Unplug the refrigerator from the 120V outlet for 60 seconds, then plug it back in to perform a hard reset of the control board
• Verify the refrigerator is plugged into a dedicated 120V circuit breaker and not sharing the outlet with other high-draw appliances
• Check that the home circuit breaker for the refrigerator has not tripped; reset if necessary
• Ensure the refrigerator is level on the floor using a spirit level, as improper leveling can affect sensor accuracy and cooling function
• Inspect all door seals and gaskets on both the refrigerator and freezer compartments to ensure they are clean, flexible, and sealing properly
• Clean the condenser coils located at the back or bottom of the unit with a soft brush to remove dust buildup that may affect cooling
• Verify the internal temperature settings are within the recommended USA range of 35-38°F for the refrigerator compartment and 0°F for the freezer compartment
• Check that vents inside both compartments are not blocked by food items, allowing proper air circulation
• Ensure there is adequate clearance around the refrigerator (at least 2-3 inches from walls) for proper air circulation and heat dissipation
• Listen for normal compressor operation; if the compressor is not running at all, the control board may not be receiving power correctly
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
