Symptoms
• Machine stops mid-brew cycle and displays E05 error on the control panel
• No water flows when attempting to brew espresso, coffee, or hot water
• Water pump makes unusual grinding or rattling noises before error appears
• Machine powers on but fails to initialize the water system
• Error message appears immediately after power-on during the warm-up sequence
• Water drips slowly or inconsistently from the brew group or spout
• Machine goes into error mode even when water tank is full
Possible Causes
• Mineral scale buildup in the water pump or internal tubing from hard water common in many USA regions
• Water tank not properly seated on the machine or water level sensor not detecting adequate water
• Kinked, disconnected, or blocked water inlet hose preventing water from reaching the pump
• Faulty water pump that has lost pressure or stopped functioning
• 120V/60Hz power supply issue causing insufficient voltage to the water pump motor
• Brew unit not correctly inserted, blocking water flow through the system
• Air lock trapped in the water circulation system after refilling the tank
• Water level sensor malfunction preventing the machine from recognizing available water
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home circuit breaker to ensure the outlet serving the coffee machine has not tripped; reset if necessary and power the machine back on
• Remove the water tank completely and inspect it for cracks, damage, or mineral deposits; rinse thoroughly with fresh water and refill with cold filtered or bottled water
• Verify the water tank is properly aligned and firmly seated into the machine until you hear or feel a click
• Unplug the machine from the electrical outlet and wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in to perform a hard reset
• Inspect the visible water inlet hose at the rear of the machine for kinks, cracks, or disconnection; gently straighten any kinks and ensure connections are tight
• Remove the drip tray and grounds container and check for overflow, water pooling, or blockages; empty and clean both components thoroughly
• Open the brew unit access panel and visually inspect the brew unit for proper insertion and seating; remove and reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place
• Run a full descaling cycle using a USA-compatible descaling solution designed for automatic coffee machines to remove mineral buildup from the internal water system
• Check the bean hopper for empty beans or jammed beans that could indicate the machine stopped functioning; refill with fresh beans if needed
• Allow the machine to sit unplugged for several minutes, then plug it back in and run a warm-up cycle without brewing to allow any trapped air to clear from the water lines
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
