Symptoms
• Dryer stops mid-cycle and displays F06 error code on the control panel
• Clothes remain wet or damp after a full drying cycle
• No heat is being produced during the drying process
• Dryer runs but blows only cold air
• Cycle may abort automatically when temperature targets are not met
• Dryer may not start a cycle at all when F06 is active
Possible Causes
• Faulty heating element that has burned out or failed internally
• Defective thermal cutoff (fuse) that has blown due to overheating or age
• Malfunctioning temperature sensor or thermistor unable to read heat levels
• Broken or loose wiring connections to the heating circuit
• Clogged exhaust vent causing improper airflow and thermal backup
• Failed high-limit thermostat unable to regulate heating safely
• Control board relay or switching component not engaging the heating element
• Power supply issue preventing 240V from reaching heating components
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet or switch off the dedicated circuit breaker for 5 minutes, then power back on to attempt an error reset
• Verify the dryer is connected to a dedicated 240V circuit breaker and that the breaker has not tripped
• Check that both hot legs of the 240V connection are receiving power using a qualified electrician if uncertain
• Clean or replace the lint filter and check that the filter housing slides in and out freely without obstruction
• Inspect the external exhaust vent hood for blockages, lint buildup, or debris restricting airflow
• Disconnect and straighten the exhaust vent ductwork, removing any lint accumulation along the entire run to the exterior wall or roof
• Ensure the exhaust vent damper flap opens and closes freely when the dryer is running
• Verify that the vent ductwork is rigid metal or approved flexible aluminum (not plastic or vinyl) per USA building codes
• Check that the vent run does not exceed 25 linear feet or equivalent length per USA dryer installation standards
• Verify no household items, furniture, or outdoor debris are blocking the exterior vent opening
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
