Symptoms
• Dryer will not start or begin a cycle when E04 is displayed
• Display screen shows E04 error code and may not respond to button inputs
• Dryer stops mid-cycle and displays the error message
• Unable to select different drying temperatures or cycle options
• Control panel appears unresponsive or frozen
Possible Causes
• Moisture sensor covered with lint or residue buildup affecting signal detection
• Loose or corroded electrical connections between the moisture sensor and control board
• Defective moisture sensor that has failed or is sending incorrect voltage signals
• Control board malfunction preventing proper communication with the moisture sensing circuit
• Faulty wiring or damaged wire harness connecting the sensor to the main circuit board
• Power supply irregularities on the 240V circuit affecting sensor operation
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Unplug the dryer from the 240V outlet or turn off the dedicated circuit breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power to attempt a reset
• Check that the dryer's power cord is fully inserted into the wall outlet and the outlet is secure
• Verify the home circuit breaker for the dryer has not tripped; reset it if necessary and monitor for the error to reappear
• Open the dryer door and locate the moisture sensor (typically a small metal strip or probe inside the drum area) and wipe it gently with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any lint accumulation
• Check the exhaust vent duct and lint trap for blockages that could cause sensor confusion from moisture buildup
• Remove the lint filter, rinse it under warm water, dry it completely, and reinstall it to ensure proper airflow
• Inspect the visible portion of the dryer's cord and plug for any signs of damage, corrosion, or bent pins
• Run a test cycle on a basic drying setting to see if the error clears after moisture sensor cleaning and power reset
Safety First
Always disconnect the appliance from power before performing any checks. If you are unsure about any step, please contact a qualified technician.
